June 2016 Trial’s “Verdicts & Settlements” section highlights “MOTOR VEHICLE LIABILITY: Rental car company employee rear-ends motorist.” Id. at 10. In Rogers v. Hertz Corp., a Colorado jury awarded $2,500,000.00 in economic damages (including past medical expenses of $390,000.00 and future medical expenses of $600,000.00), $750,000.00 in non-economic damages for personal injuries, and interest of roughly $1,500,000.00 for a total award of $4,740,000.00. Id. Also reported was “Failure to provide medical care to pretrial detainee,” a $1,000,000.00m Texas jury award for wrongful death. Id. at 10, 12.
