Trial is the monthly journal of the American Association of Justice (“AAJ”), formerly the American Trial Lawyers Association (“ATLA”). Its issue for May 2017 covers “MEDICAL NEGLIGENCE”.

May 2017 TRIAL features 5 articles: “BLAZING A TRAIL” re audit trail evidence, id. at 22-24, 26, 28, 30; “Compelling Production of Adverse Incident Reports,” id. at 26, 28; “A Voice AGAINST TORT ‘REFORM’, id. at 34-38; “What’s On Jurors’ Minds” Id. at 40-42, 44; and “Understanding Newborn Strokes”. Id. at 46-50, 52-53. In Virginia, Mr. Waterman has led the patient fight for discovery of incident reports, and is leading it for discovery of audit trails and metadata, too.

“Verdicts & SETTLEMENTS” in Trial for May 2017 reported a $30,000,000.00 2016 Georgia jury verdict in a vehicle accident case, “Jeep crosses centerline”. Id. at 10,12. It also highlighted “City employee fatally strikes pedestrian in crosswalk,” a $2,000,000.00 2016 California jury verdict for the wrongful death of an 89-year-old survived by 5 adult children. Id. at 12.
