On September 13, 2018, the Virginia Supreme Court rejected the appeal Shaun Brown, upholding Richmond Circuit Court’s finding that election fraud by Republican Scott Taylor’s staff precluded Brown (an Independent) as an intended “spoiler” candidate against his Democratic rival, Elaine Luria, for Virginia’s U.S. Congressional 2nd District on November 6th. Fearing that Elaine Luria would win the election and unseat Scott Taylor, his staff used fraudulent signatures to try getting Brown (a former Democrat) on the ballot and thereby splitting the Democratic vote.
Notably, Scott Taylor and his implicated staffers resisted testifying about their knowledge and involvement in the fraudulent signature-gathering when subpoenaed in the underlying Richmond Circuit Court case. But Scott Taylor and his tight-lipped staffers still face a Virginia State Police investigation, as well as an independent special prosecutor investigation, into the election fraud.
