By 12-page letter opinion on June 24, 2022, Newport News Circuit Court upheld a mother’s claims of negligence, gross negligence, and intentional infliction of emotional distress arising from gunshot damages to her infant child in close proximity to the mother. The personal injury Defendants were the individual who pointed and shot the rifle in the direction of the infant through a house wall and the neighboring homeowner who allowed the shooter to point her rifle toward the infant’s home without advising or checking whether the rifle was loaded. The case is D.H. v. Trousdell, No. CL2200113T-00.
